In a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood of New York’s Upper East Side is 20 East, a new building that looks like something from the city’s heyday.
Designed by upscale architect Robert AM Stern, 20 East End was built for New York’s elite. Apartments range from around $ 10 million to over $ 30 million.
Stearn too designed 15 Central Park West, a now legendary building that is home to some of New York’s wealthiest residents, such as Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein and actor Denzel Washington. The building has been called “the most powerful address in the world” by author Michael Gross.
The 20 East End features design touches reminiscent of the 1920s and 1930s, when many neighboring buildings were constructed to cater for the wealthy and powerful of the time.
“We were inspired by buildings from the 1920s and we wanted to bring them into the 21st century”, developer Edward Baquero, president of the Corrigin Real Estate Group, Business Insider said. “To truly appreciate this building, you have to be a quintessential New Yorker.”
