Angelo R. Scola Obituary – Worcester Telegram & Gazette

Angelo R. Scola, 86, of Boylston, Ma passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Rose Monahan Hospice Home.
He leaves behind his dearest friend and wife of 56 years, Cynthia (Frink), two loving daughters, Lisa Scola and companion Michael Kaczynski of Dudley, Ma; Pamela Marois and her husband David of Sutton, Ma; her four beloved grandchildren, Alexandra Josephine Crosby and her husband Elijah of Fairbanks, Alaska; Matthew David and Elizabeth Rose Marois, and Gianna Rose Cariglia as well as nieces and a nephew.
Angelo was born March 3, 1936 in Worcester, the son of the late Dr Joseph and Enis (Capodieci) Scola.
Angelo graduated from Worcester Academy, Class of 1954, then earned a BA from Clark University. He later earned his JD from the New England School of Law. He received his Masters in Education from Worcester State University.
Over the years Angelo has been active in the Economics Club of Worcester with his father and uncles, former member of the Boylston Lions Club, trustee of the Boylston Library, Greendale Men’s Retired Club of Worcester, and served on the board of administration of the Central MA Aging Agency. For many years, Angelo served on the finance committee of his parish church in St. Christopher’s. He proudly served in the US Army Reserves and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1966.
During his career he taught at the Ward School, served as Director of Financial Aid at Leicester Junior College and retired from Worcester State University as Dean of Administration.
Throughout their 56 beautiful years together, Angelo and Cynthia have enjoyed traveling to Italy, Hawaii, California and wintering in Naples, Florida. Their most treasured moments were spent the summer at their home in Misquamicut Beach, Rhode Island. It was his special place where he enjoyed spending time with his lifelong friends and family. Angelo will be remembered for sitting in his chair under the tree and having heartfelt conversations with his loved ones.
Of all his accomplishments and titles, the one he cherished the most was calling himself dad, dad and friend.
The family would like to thank Angelo’s caregivers at Rose Monahan for their constant care and compassion.
Friends and family are all welcome to attend Angelo’s Calling Hours on Friday June 10 from 9am-10.30am at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Church, 950 West Boylston St, Worcester with interment to follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Rd, Worcester, Ma 01602-3213.
