House, Dorothy A. WATERVLIET Dorothy A. Hoffman House, 87, known to all as “Aunt Dorth”, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Albany Medical Center. She was born in Troy on September 3, 1934, daughter of the late Morris J. and Anna M. Cramer Hoffman. A longtime resident of Watervliet, she was brought up and educated in Watervliet and graduated in 1952 from Watervliet High School. Dorothy was employed by the NYS Tax and Finance Department for almost 40 years before retiring in 1995. She was a life member of the Schuyler Heights Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothy was a communicant of the former St. Brigid’s Church and was currently a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband Charlie. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. She was found almost every morning at On the Hill cafe in Watervliet having breakfast with her nephew Hugsy. Beloved wife of the late Charles F. House, who passed away in 2012; sister of the late Jean Hughes and Martha Malthaner; sister-in-law of Lucille Sheldon; adored aunt of Frank J. (late Valerie) Hughes, Shelly (late Peter) Dick, Timothy M. (Lisa) Hughes, James Malthaner, Lynn Malthaner, John (Nahaku McFadden) Malthaner, Bob (Rosie) Malthaner, Carol (late Dan ) Smith, Ruth Sheldon, Eleanor Lasher and Laura Lehr; great-aunt of Emily and Frank Hughes, III, Katie and Kristie Dick, Amanda (Jay) Fuhri, Tim Hughes and Logan Miller; and Lily and Ella Fuhri’s special great-great-aunt. Dorothy is also survived by several other great-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. The funeral will be on Wednesday, September 29 at 9:15 a.m. at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10:00 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet where a Christian burial mass will be celebrated by Reverend Donald L. Rutherford, pastor. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens, Colony.
