On January 19, 2022, Lynn Calloway Rogers left her earthly home. He was a very lucky man during his time on earth. He was blessed to be born on April 15, 1939 in Oklahoma City, OK, to wonderful parents, Harold and Emmagene Rogers. Lynn had the privilege of growing up on the family farm in Maysville, OK, on the banks of the Washita River.

He had two wonderful and beloved sons, Randall Lynn (Randy) Rogers and William Harold (Bill) Rogers of Norman from a previous marriage to Gwen. Lynn later married the love of her life, Gaye Ann York.

He had two exciting careers, that of a chemical researcher and that of a lawyer. He made a good living and had fun hunting, fishing, sightseeing, listening to the music he loved so much, reading all kinds of books and researching his Chickasaw Indian and Irish/English ancestors. /germans. Lynn doesn’t want you to sing sad songs for him. Instead, get together and tell fun Lynn Rogers stories. And, oh yes: Lynn’s 11th great-grandfather, Thomas Matthew Rogers (1562-1621) really came to America on the Mayflower!

During her early career as a research chemist, Lynn earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Science in Chemistry from Georgia Tech University in Atlanta, Georgia. He worked as a research chemist for Conoco for ten years, living in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and was an inventor and holder of numerous U.S. and foreign patents relating to petroleum additives.

In 1972, Lynn and his estranged wife Gwen and sons Randy and Bill uprooted from Ponca City and moved to Norman, Oklahoma, where Lynn earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in December 1974.

Lynn worked for the Cleveland County Attorney’s Office for a few years when he found his love and passion for municipal law, public finance and local government law, which lasted nearly 50 years.

He was a municipal bond lawyer and a founding member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers. Lynn was also heavily involved with the Oklahoma Municipal Attorneys Association, where he found himself serving as a city attorney for various municipalities in the state of Oklahoma when vacancies arose.

In 2002, Lynn closed her private law practice and worked for the Oklahoma State Attorney General’s Office.

Lynn’s expertise in municipal bonds and public finance law has kept him busy reviewing transcripts of hundreds of bond issuances for public schools, municipalities, and state agencies. He has helped dozens of state agency employees better understand the bond-issuing process and strengthened the ability of those agencies to finance needed projects in a fiscally responsible manner. Throughout nearly four decades of practicing municipal bond law, Lynn has befriended attorneys in the municipal bond community in Oklahoma and across the country.

He is survived by his two sons and their families, Randy and his wife Sue of Norman, OK, grandson Evan; Bill and his wife Sheri of Norman, OK, and two other grandsons Brandon and Brian Rogers. His extended family, through his marriage to Gaye, included his sons Mickey Charles Simms and his wife Kasee Simms of Oklahoma City, OK and his grandchildren Brendan Holder, Madeline Simms and Landon Simms; Britt Simms and wife Erin of Coppell, Texas and granddaughter Cassie Simms. All of them were very precious to him and he loved them with all his heart. Lynn was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Emmagene Rogers, and one brother, Ronald Keith Rogers.

Lynn was an active member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Norman, OK. He was a deacon and elder at Memorial Christian Church in Oklahoma City as well as Norman, and served as congregational president of the First Christian Church of Norman, in addition to serving on numerous committees and other church activities. .

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and had many exciting and fun trips with Randy, Bill, Brandon, Gaye, his brother Ellis (“Eli”), and other friends and family over the years, including trips to Canada , Alaska, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Idaho, and last but not least, at his beloved Broken Bow Lake in southeast Oklahoma. One of his favorite pastimes was getting up very early in the morning before daybreak and being somewhere on a lake with a fishing rod in hand, watching the sun come up, communicating with its creator. .

Lynn recently published a book called “Favorite Stops on my way to Paradise”. It is a series of true stories of how he felt or encountered Heaven and Earth come together throughout his life. Lynn also wants everyone to know that her book is available on Amazon.com and is also available at most bookstores!

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2022, at First Baptist Church, Maysville, Oklahoma. Interment will be in Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville. Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
