For the publisher,
My name is Chandravir Ahuja. I have recently been appointed to fill a vacant position on the Finance Board and will stand for re-election in November.
First of all, I would like to thank the NRTC for selecting me and the FRO for confirming my appointment. All the members of the board of directors were welcoming and I am encouraged by the spirit of collaboration present.
At the meeting, once confirmed, the First Selectman affirmed my service to the Fairfield Hills Master Plan Review Committee. I appreciated that and I would be remiss if I did not thank the members of this committee.
It was gratifying to be part of a group that worked well together in the midst of vigorous debate. After absorbing many contributions, we have come to a solid consensus putting Newtown’s best interests first. This process led me to nominate my name to serve our city again.
My wife Roberta and I have lived here for over 18 years. Our two sons studied in the Newtown school system. We understand and appreciate the value of our great school district.
The affordability and open spaces of our city were our other motivators to settle here. We try to contribute to the agrarian character of our municipality by raising five goats and 13 hens.
I worked 31 years in the field of commodity trading, which gave me a wide experience in finance. For the past 15 years, I have served on the leadership of the church I attend and am also part of their strategic fundraising team.
Having the baggage and experience for this role, I am committed to learning the issues and listening to the people of the city. I do everything that is entrusted to me with all my heart and I would be grateful to receive your support for this election.
