Rossview outfielder Dylan Kazee named Clarksville Now Player of the Week
CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – We’re starting a new series – Clarksville Now Player of the Week – and the player with the first honors is Rossview outfielder Dylan Kazee.
The Player of the Week series will highlight and celebrate players’ individual performances throughout Montgomery County, with athletes selected based on statistics compiled Monday to Sunday.
A wide range of players deserved the recognition after the first week of play, but Rossview’s Kazee had the advantage for a number of reasons, the first being the senior’s overall impact on the team’s offensive production.
The Hawks lost their opening day contest 2-9 against Goodpasture Christian. During the game, Kazee went 0 for 3 with a walk. However, the team’s offensive foes stopped there, and it’s in part due to Kazee’s production. Since that hitless performance, he has a five-game hitting streak and the team has averaged 6.5 runs per game. Kazee detailed that he has one objective at the plate and that’s to focus on hitting the ball hard.
Coach Parker Holman praised his seniors for their consistent hard contact. Holman added a vocal point coming into the season was to put the ball in play, and Rossview has certainly accomplished that so far.
Player statistics
Kazee consistently gets on base. The senior has 10 hits in 20 at-bats through six games of the regular season. Plus, he has an on-base percentage of .565. Kazee’s quantity of at-bats makes his stat line all the more impressive. Kazee also showcased his power and capacity to contribute to the team’s overall scoring effort. In addition to leading Rossview in hits, average and on-base percentage, he also leads the team in doubles, homeruns, runs batted in and runs scored.
“I’m happy about my hot start, but my priority is helping my team win any way I can,” he said.
